What is the nurse's role in holistic care?

 

Nurses bring up relationships with their patients, to promote healing and wellness which is said to be the main role of nurses in the holistic care. Holistic nursing is usually based on the principle of the patient's psychological, biological, social, and spiritual aspects that are interconnected. These aspects involves to fit together to form a unique person. Holistic Nursing involves healing of soul, body and mind of the patients. It is the self-care, self-responsibility, spirituality, for the nurses.

A best example for the holistic care in nursing includes relationship, diet, psychotherapy, exercise, and spiritual counselling.  Alternative therapies such as naturopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage therapy, etc. some benefits of Holistic nursing includes, a fortified body that can withstand the onset of disease more easily, improvement of the natural healing abilities of the body, the prevention of various diseases and disorders, reduced anxiety levels and stress.

The word holistic means, different parts of one thing, which are interconnected to form a whole part. The standards of Holistic nursing are based on these principles-  Holistic Philosophy and Education, Holistic Ethics, Theories, and Research , Holistic Nurse Self-Care, Holistic Communication, Therapeutic Environment and Cultural Competence, and Holistic Caring Process.
